Cisco Live! Amsterdam 2023

It’s time again! It has been many years since I went to Cisco Live, the last time being in 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. With the corona pandemic disrupting the live event for the past few years, it was finally time for the networking community to come together in one place, this time the place being Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands.

Schedule of the Week

I booked most of my sessions of the week as soon as the session picker was released, as many of the popular sessions tend to fill up pretty fast. With my CCNP recertification coming up this year, I wanted to attend as many interesting sessions as possible to collect Continuing Education (CE) credits to help me with my recertification.

Unsurprisingly, many of the sessions I attended were related to the Cisco Identity Services Engine, or ISE if you will, mixed with some SD-Access and wireless-related sessions.

Most evenings were spent with my colleagues eating good food and drinking good beer.

Favorite Sessions

Going to so many sessions this week was kind of rough and sometimes I just wanted to take a break and do something else for a while. However, I felt a few sessions this week stood out, both in terms of content and presentation, and many interesting points were being made on the subject in question.

My favorite sessions (in no particular order):

  • BGP EVPN in Enterprise Campus with Catalyst 9000 Switches (BRKENS-2092)

  • Securing Starlink Internet Services (BRKSEC-2037)

  • High Density Wi-Fi Design, Deployment and Optimization (BRKEWN-2087)

  • Cisco's Unified Agent: Cisco Secure Client. Bringing AMP, AnyConnect, Orbital & Umbrella together (BRKSEC-2834) - the “Aaron Woland therapy session”.
